Happy 2023 everyone! I wanted to put together a quick post about the classes I will be teaching this season as many will be starting up in the next 1-2 weeks! I am still teaching online. (Perfect for the colder months in my opinion!) And I have worked hard to keep my lessons engaging, informative, and fun in this format!

Common questions

Can I sign up if I’m not in Ottawa/Canada?

Yes you can take these classes basically from ANYWHERE! As long as you have access to internet. Keep in mind the time differences though!

Note: Some of my classes are offered with City of Ottawa programming, which may charge non-resident fees. They do offer affordable prices overall. AND Ottawa residents aged 65+ get a 10% discount on City of Ottawa courses!

Which classes offer recordings – if I miss a lesson or want a review?

My classes offered with the Ottawa School of Art and Dovercourt offer password protected recordings. Perfect for those who want to take lessons this year, but feel they might miss the live sessions. Don’t worry, you can re-watch these ones!

Digital Resources

Although those classes offered with the City of Ottawa do not come with recordings, ALL of my classes come with lesson notes and supplementary materials for each week.

Drawing for the not so terrified, adults

This course is for those who have taken a beginner drawing class, preferably the Drawing for the Absolute and Terrified Beginner, and wish to expand their drawing repertoire! Lessons are geared to build on and develop skills explored in previous drawing art study. We will cover still life, botanical, the figure, portraits, and more! Ask for the outline for the precursor of this course (if you never took it) to gauge if you want to take this class or the intro version. Creative illustration: Drawing and Painting for Beginners

Illustration is about how to translate your ideas and concepts visually. This course serves as a fun introduction to illustration and its variety of styles and techniques. Exploring drawing and watercolour, adult

Each time this course runs, new themes and projects are introduced as we express our creativity in this introductory visual art class! Lessons explore different drawing and/or painting techniques by completing a finished artwork! All levels are welcome! Supplies: Pencil and paper for the first day and watercolors introduced afterwards. Can’t attend the live meeting? Come learn about colour mixing and colour theory with this painting class where we only use three colours: red, blue and yellow. Travel sketching and painting, adults

Have you always wanted to be able to sketch your surroundings or urban/rural landscapes with ease? This is a fun introduction to a variety of sketching and painting techniques. Projects will show you how to draw proportionally using perspective and will include many tips and tricks on how to make your travel sketching experience (whether you are indoors or outside) a breeze!
